Signification of the Nine Planets of the Horoscope: Sun
Sun:
The planet Sun or Surya has a crucial role in Vedic Astrology since it is the pivotal point of our solar system. It represents the Soul. It is the portrayal of the inner self and what distinguishes one from the rest. Although it is a star, however it is referred to as a planet because anything that has effect on a human being in predictive astrology is termed as one.
Sun takes one year to complete its zodiacal cycle and is in each sign for about a month. It rules the sign of Leo, which falls in the 5th house of the natural zodiac. It is friendly with Moon, Mars and Jupiter. Mercury is neutral with Sun and Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu are its enemies. Sun’s influence is positive if placed in Aries, its place of exaltation, own sign of Leo or a friendly sign and is negative when debilitated in the sign of Libra.
A powerful Sun in the birth chart will give you power, position and authority over others. The native may be the center of attention in career, profession and business. Importantly, the native will be independent, ambitious, optimistic, courageous, dynamic, stubborn and commanding. It gives the ability to lead and a desire to establish prestigious place for oneself. It is a blessing for politicians, physicians, administrators and managers.
Sun will give varied results in accordance to the ascendant of a natal chart. Results will be determined according to the sign and house position where it is placed. It is very powerful in the 1st, 10th and 11th house. However, it is considered weak when in the 6th, 8th and 12th house despite being in friendly sign where the native could suffer on account of health, financial and social issues.
