Saturn:

Saturn or Shani, is the second biggest planet of our solar system. Though one of the most feared and slowest moving planet in Vedic Astrology, it is known as the teacher who enlightens us on the difference between the good and bad karmas by helping us recognize our mistakes and weaknesses, become accustomed and ultimately take responsibility for our actions. Its influence brings us the age-old knowledge coming out of higher learning, determination, authority and the drive towards spirituality.

Saturn takes almost 30 years to complete its cycle of the zodiac and it stays in each sign for about 2 ½ years. It rules the sign of Capricorn and Aquarius, which falls in the 10th and the 11th house of the natural zodiac. It is friendly with Mercury, Venus, Rahu and Ketu. It’s neutral to Jupiter, whereas Sun, Moon and Mars are its enemies. Saturn is influential and positive if placed in Libra, its place of exaltation; own sign of Capricorn and Aquarius or a friendly sign and it is negative when debilitated in the sign of Aries.

A powerful Saturn in a horoscope is an indicator for wealth, fame, leadership, longevity, justice, prudence, democratic ethics, humanitarianism, compassion and philosophical faith. It further grants high position in society, diligent sense of duty, discipline, meditation, asceticism, patience, self-control, economy, industry, diplomacy and truthfulness.

Saturn will give varied results in accordance with the ascendant of a natal chart. Results will be determined according to the sign and house position where it is placed. It is very powerful in the 3rd, 6th and the 11th house and it is considered weak when it is in the 1st, 8th and the 12th house.
