BHRIGU SAMHITA
Bhrigu Samhita, as the title of this ancient treatise suggests, is a blessing of Saptrishi Bhrigu to mankind for all of us to be able to find solace during moments of distress, confusion and crisis of any kind in life. It is for reasons, such as these, that the venerable Sage is respected as father of Hindu astrology or “Jyotish” in Sanskrit. During 12th and 13th centuries many invasions by the mindless aggressors on the civilized Indian continent, not even a hundredth of all the original Jyotish Sutras (fundamental principles of Vedic philosophy) have lived to see this day.
Sage Bhrigu was the first compiler of predictive science of Jyotish. It is believed that a large number of his shishyas (pupils or disciples of a guru) assisted in the gigantic undertaking of compiling about 4.5 million key sutras leading to innumerable horoscopes for unlimited generations that have come and gone by, as well as those who are yet to put their feet on earth. These Horoscopes are rooted in the ultimate universal theory of Karma and can be predicted using the calculations of the planetary positions.
Bhrigu Samhita is the very birth of science of knowing the unknown. To understand the intricacies of timings of happenings one needs to research Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra.
