6th House:

Moving forward to the sixth house, we now come to the 2nd of the Artha Houses (material prosperity) and the 2nd of the Upachaya Houses (house of growth), it is also known as the Shatru Bhava, house of enemies in Vedic Astrology. It presides over the areas of life which are difficult and where only sustained efforts can overcome the problems. Mercury is the Karka or the natural significator of this house.

It indicates achievement of goals, money earning ability, financial support, inflow and outflow of wealth, ability to pay off debts, loans, losses and gains through hard work.

It further throws light on health and wellbeing, injuries, illnesses and ability to recover from them, diet, food consumed as a part of daily routine and lifestyle affecting the physiology of a native. It represents professions such as spiritual healers, medical or holistic doctors, nurses, police, military, etc. Relationship with one’s employees and co-workers are also seen from this house. If there are beneficial planets here which are favorable then a native will gain through his subordinates. The sixth house also represents a step mother, maternal relatives, foreigners and the congeniality of relationship experienced with them.

Any planets which are naturally malefic are welcome in the sixth house and if strongly placed will help to defeat all enemies and opposition but on the other hand will make the native struggle with diseases represented by them.

Most importantly as first of the Dushtana or Trik Houses, it shows malefic and difficult influences in life, which encompass hurdles and hindrances, disputes, litigation, conflicts and ability to manage them, struggles, worries, fear, opposition of all kinds, humiliation, insolence, misunderstandings, enemies, infidelity, miseries and challenges in life, conspiracies and intrigues a native could confront in his profession. Lastly it also shows inclination of a person towards prohibited and illegal acts, deceit, treachery and chances of imprisonment.
