7th House
Half way through we arrive at the 7th house called the Descendant directly opposite to the 1st house the Ascendant. It is second of the Kama (desire) houses, third of the Kendra or angular houses. It is known as the Jaya Bhava or the house of marriage. It primarily tells us about the marriage of a native and about one’s life partner. Planet Venus signifying love and romance is the Karka or the natural significator of this house.
In Vedic Astrology it is one of the most important houses that indicates union of any sort. It describes the physical and mental attributes of the spouse, one’s attraction to the partner, desire and need to have a partner, willingness to commit in relationships, innate passion, possessiveness and level of mutual understanding with the spouse. Indication and timing of marriage, marital bliss, longevity of marital union also comes under its realm here.
This house throws light on partnerships in business and trade, the nature of outcome experienced through the virtue of partnership, relationship with clients, contracts, negotiations, agreements and so on. The position and nature of planets placed in this house decide whether the results in these matters would be favorable or otherwise.
It further talks about the cooperation and support received from others which is important in deciding our success in realization of life purpose, accomplishments, satisfaction and happiness.
To conclude the children from a second marriage, son-in-law and relatives through marriage, all types of legal involvements and fines imposed, divorce, quarrels, enmity with others and success in foreign travels also come under the domain of this house. Lastly, it is the 2nd of the Maraka (death) houses in a horoscope.
