Signification of the Twelve Houses of the Horoscope: 4th House
4th House:
Moving forward to the fourth house, in Vedic astrology, means to discover our very own origin, the beginning from where we have emerged. It is the first of the four Kendras or the angular house. It is known as the Sukh Bhav, the house of happiness. It is also called the Bandhu Bhav (security) indicating our spiritual, mental, emotional, social, material and physical security. Moon is the natural significator of this house.
The fourth house relates to the atmosphere of our home and family where we are born and it lays down the foundation for the rest of our life. It represents our mother, relationship with her, her physical and mental well being, nature and social status of the mother. It elaborates about our motherland, family, heritage, ancestry, domestic happiness, culture, lifestyle and traditions. It also represents inherited and self acquired immovable property, material possessions, antiques, family heirlooms and vehicles. It indicates if the person will live his life in the native place of birth or abroad.
Relationship with the home environment, mental peace at home and the emotional satisfaction derived in life, condition of oneself and the family in the latter years of life comes under the realm of this house.
The fourth house reveals the deep mysteries of the heart such as love, romance, behavior, kindness, rudeness and hidden nature.
Being first of the Moksha Sthan (salvation), it throws light on the spiritual leanings in life. Divine knowledge, astrological texts and practices, gains from communication and resources of younger siblings are also seen from here.
Let me conclude by saying this house is the starting point of our lives seen through the genetic pool we have chosen for this lifetime and our cycle of life from the beginning to the end.
