5th House
Having covered the first 4 houses we are embarking upon the 2nd Trikona or the 5th house. Along with the first house it is also called the Dharma house. It is known as the house of Divine Grace that relates to inner innate expression of indigenous intelligence, desire and capability to innovate and create. This trine defines the purpose of life. Jupiter is the Karka or the significator here.
The fifth house talks about children, the ability and chances to have descendants, conception, miscarriages or abortions etc. It shows the health and wellbeing of children besides the parents’ relationship with them. It elaborates on the upbringing of children and if or not they are a source of joy. Although it is called a Putra Bhava, however it means a child irrespective of the gender.
The fifth house traits include aspects like inherent genius, the success or failure in love and romantic relationships, fortune, diplomacy, high-ranking appointments, luck in speculations and investments, inclinations to games of chance like gambling, racing, lotteries and risky ventures involving money, fame, fortune, sudden gains, self-righteousness, sense of discrimination, rationalization, intelligence, analytical skills, higher education and spiritual wisdom. Creative expressions too are ruled by this house including the performing arts.
On further study it shows the Divine knowledge of mantras, spiritual practices followed and initiations. The creativity, understanding and ability to unlock our deepest potential for a fulfilling life are key factors of this house.
Above all, it is a Purva Punya, past life karma house and therefore at the time of birth the soul enters from the 5th house carrying different partitions which determine the Dashas governed by different planets.
